Hypnosis has come a long way since the days of using it to entertain people (cluck like a chicken) or using it to stop smoking. The reality is that hypnosis/hypnotherapy is the biggest hidden therapeutic resource that we can make use of in our lives.
There is hardly any aspect of our lives that hypnosis cannot help improve. The subconscious mind is very powerful and is basically 95% of what directs us in our everyday action, thoughts, and habits.
Surely, working with this powerful part of us can only yield good things. The truth is, there’s a lot of misconception of what hypnosis is and how it can help people. Below are some frequently asked questions or concerns that people new to hypnosis have.
Does hypnotherapy work?
Yes it does. Hypnotherapy, if done by a certified, qualified therapist can produce effective and sometimes dramatic results. Some results are seen right away and some can take a few days or weeks.
How does it work?
Hypnotherapy (RTT) works by accessing the subconscious mind, locating the root cause of damaging habits and beliefs, and then re-wiring/reprogramming the subconscious mind with a set of new, empowering beliefs.
What if I can’t be hypnotized?
Anyone can be hypnotized if they want to be. For some people, the real question is how deep and to what degree they go into trance. Since even the lightest state of trance can still produce results, hypnotherapy is worth considering even if you think you can’t be hypnotized.
Will I be made to do things that I don’t want to do or say things I’d rather not say?
No. During the hypnosis session, the client is always in control. Hypnotherapy is not the same as stage hypnosis where the goal is for entertainment and participants are up for anything. When you visit a certified hypnotherapist for the purpose of ending an undesired habit or resolving an issue, you do have a purpose in mind and anything that deviates from that purpose during the hypnosis session will take you out of it. You don’t lose control over your behavior while under hypnosis, you generally remain aware of and remember what happens under hypnosis. You are always in control.
How fast can I see results?
Results can be seen instantly or over a few days or weeks depending on how deeply rooted the issue the client is struggling with is. Another good indicator on how fast or how effective a hypnotherapy session is, is how committed the client is to listening to the recording they take home with them. Hypnotherapy is not magic. Although results can be seen in as little as 24 hours, clients are still expected to listen to their audio recording for 21 days.

I see clients locally in person at my North Seattle office or remotely over Skype for clients that can’t make it to my office or clients that live in other states or other countries.
How long does a session last?
Initial hypnotherapy sessions lasts between 90 – 120 minutes.
Do I have to do anything to prepare for a session?
The most important thing is that you want to change. Wear comfortable clothing and just show up! 😊
